February was another stellar month for markets in 2024...
RSP Deadline 1st and foremost, yes we already mentioned February 29th
January to March is tax slip time and it can get very confusing
Getting organized can be as simple as a shoe box to collect slips that may still be getting mailed
Taking the time to sign up for E -delivery can help simplify your life even further
Create a folder on your PC or virtually to collect ta slips
Let younger family members know that if they are handling mail to be careful with where it's placed
There is only a deadline of end of Februray for employment slips.
All other tax slips and receipts can be received right through March entirely
RSP receipts are very important as they can be used for tax deductions
Since RSP deposits in the 1st 60 days of each year qualify as deductions for the prior year, receipts can be expected into March
Most importantly the personal tax filing deadline is not until April 30th and that is only if you owe taxes.
Self-Employed deadline is June 15th
CRA now imposed fines and penalties for missing slips so unprepared rushing can cause expensive mistakes.
Tax time can always be stressful. Making a place for important tax slips as they arrive and patience in waiting for them all can help to calm the pricess.
